Home Again, Home Again

Six people take up an entire row of an airplane.  It is not enough room for a 2 year old (Pirate) for 4 hours.  And it’s not enough room for his Mommy or the other people traveling with him.

Six people make a lot of luggage.  Especially when you try to cram stuff for five of the six people into one suitcase.  And especially when it decides to pop open and spread that crammed stuff all over the conveyor belt.  (It’s a good thing I ran out of time packing and shoved things, namely the underthings, into a plastic bag before tossing it into the suitcase.)

Six people also have a lot of carry-ons.  And when 2 of those people are actually carry-on, it creates a handful.  As several people reminded me today at the airport.  And in the airplane.

Six people do not get on a bus in a timely manner.  Especially when you add six people carry-ons and six people popped open luggage.  Which is broken now.  Rats.  Time for new luggage!

Six people eat a handful of blueberries from our very own bushes alarmingly fast.

Six people can be exhausted and excited all at once.  There will be six very happy heads resting on pillows tonight.

PS- We are a family of 6 for the summer!
Butterfly and Flower
Juice’s 16 year old niece, Flower, has come to stay with us until August.  This is her 3rd summer with us and I am SO excited.  I think she is too.  And Butterfly as well.

Utah Last Day

Tomorrow morning we fly home to Maryland.  It’s been a fun trip.  In ways, too long (we all miss our house) and in ways not long enough (we didn’t do all we wanted to do).

Today we spent the morning with my Nana, the kids’ Nana-Great.  She made us a yummy lunch of pancakes and sausage and then we let the kids play in her yard.  My cousins live next door so we were able to see Bee a little and play with her.  The kids really got into hide and seek which is a game I normally hate.  But if you have a whole yard to yourself to hide in, it’s a great game!

My mom and I got last year’s Cousin Camp photo book done.  This year’s is waiting on one or two pictures and then it will be done too.

Auntie L came over to take pictures of the kids with the blankets that she made.  Uncle MusicMan and his family came over to spend some time with us too.  BFF Mink came by and helped me pack some.  We have Flower with us because she is flying back with us tomorrow.

Now the summer can start.  We’ve got some great things planned.  Can’t wait!  See you in the eastern time zone!

Utah Day…um…15?

Today was full.  To the brim.

There was a kiddie pool.

There was a leaky hose which doubled as a sprinkler.

Utah Day 8

What a day! This morning we spent getting everyone ready for the big day ahead.

And we were late, even after getting up at 7am with the kids. Why is that I can’t make it somewhere until after 11am when I’ve been up for hours? It’s probably because everyone has to get ready AND I have to exercise. It’s nice to have exercise a habit. I like it.

Anyway, we went over to Juice’s family today and spent the afternoon with them. Juice’s two brothers were there, and his sister came with all of her kids. Including her twin girls! I haven’t seen Seraph since she was 2 months old because she’s either in the hospital when we go or my kids have a cold. But this time all the planets aligned and we were able to see them! Yay!

Juice with his twins, Splats with hers

Everyone had lunch and I loved hearing Juice and his brothers reminisce about all the bad things they did as kids. Juice’s mom said that it was amazing any of them lived to be adults. About half an hour later full of more stories, she said, “I want to change my statement. It’s amazing I lived!”

Uncle K

Butterfly spent the whole afternoon jumping on the trampoline in their field with her cousins.  She had a ball.  Juice’s dad showed us his new hobby: a beehive.  Very cool.  We’re going to try and go over again sometime next week and he’ll pull it open for me to take some pictures.  I’m excited!

Cousins on the Tramp

The boys were very good and even slept for awhile while we were there.  We were smart and brought their beds and their blankies and music.  But they had a good time playing with their cousins too and the toy train.

Once we actually left (like an hour later than we wanted to!), we headed up to my Aunt’s house for my Dad’s family reunion.  Good food, good family, and good conversation.  Butterfly ran and ran and ran with her second cousin who is just a year older than her.  The boys played on the slide and ate only chips for dinner.  We left there around 9pm.

Twins with Bubbles

They stayed awake for the entire 45 minutes of the ride home.  I thought with all the playing for sure they would be asleep in seconds.  They were once we put them in their beds around 10pm.  Tomorrow is going to be fun, I can tell.

Utah Day 6

Today I had a blast at the Casual Blogger’s Conference!  I only wish I had bought the 2 day pass instead of the one day pass.  I seriously felt like I learned a ton.  And my favorite part of these things?  Making new friends!!  But it was a very long day after a very late night last night.  And since I love bullets, here’s some of the things I remember:

Now, I’m off to go watch Juice fix my mom’s dryer.  I love being married to MacGyver.
