Everyone,
About 2 weeks ago, I put up a plea on Facebook:
“I have a disk stuck in the Wii…any thoughts?”
No one had any thoughts though. So I googled the problem and came up with a whole lot of nothing.
See, when I pushed the eject button, it made a very sad grinding noise and then stopped. I tried holding down the eject button. I tried turning it off and turning it back on after 2 minutes. I unplugged it for half an hour and came back to it. I even held the eject button down and shook it in hopes that gravity would help me pull the disk out. No luck.
So I handed it over to Juice who then did the same things I did. But after shaking it, he broke out his trusty pocket knife and started poking around in there. I knew he was serious when he went to get his tools. He took his needle nosed pliers to the disk and pulled it out.
“Belly dancing for fitness,” he announced. (Yes, I do them. Yes, I like it. Yes, it’s a workout.)
What?! Boys!!
The BDF was followed shortly by a picture CD of the boys’ first birthday.
That was followed by another picture CD of their 6 month old pictures.
Then came the Wii game which actually came out when you pushed the eject button.
In case you are wondering, you can get 4 disks into the Wii disk slot. The Wii won’t work. But you can get them in! Also, pulling them out of there will severally damage the disks. As in, the BDF does not work anymore. The Wii still operates just fine though.
There were some severally punished boys in our house too.

Everyone,
Butterfly climbed up into my lap today and said, “Mama, I have something important to tell you.”
(Happy that she left the calling me Mother behind) “Yes, honey?”
“There are a few things that I like best.”
“Oh?”
“They are words. And when you put those words together they make my favorite things. Want to hear?”
“Sure.”
“These are the words: Mama, can I watch a movie? Next favorite is, Mama, can I play outside? And then the next one is, Mama, can I play out in the snow? And then the very last one is the last thing that I like to do a lot that you don’t let me do enough. Mama, can I play the Wii?”
“Those are all your favorite things huh?”
“Yes but you don’t let me do them enough. Especially this one, Mama can I play out in the snow? That’s the one that you don’t let me do enough. I need to play out in the snow more!”
“Honey, I can’t make it snow for you. We take you out in the snow when it snows here, but it doesn’t snow every day.”
“Why not?”
“It’s just not cold enough here.”
“Yes it is. It’s too cold!” There was a big dramatic pause here while she had her thinking face on. I’ve learned not to say anything while she is ‘thinking’ otherwise I get yelled at. “Mama?” she asks. “Mama, maybe we better do the last thing I said.”
“Play on the Wii?”
“Yeah, it’s much warmer than snow.”
Okay then. Guess we better find some snow games for the Wii for her.

Everyone,
I slept in today. We were very late for church. I gave the boys to Juice during the last hour and spent that time outside in the hall gabbing with friends (shhh….) although it was a spiritual gab.
At home I put the boys to bed and then slept for over 2 hours on the couch. Bliss!
We had a crock pot meal for dinner so I feel like I barely cooked anything.
And now we’ve spent the last hour and half or so playing the Wii. I’ve decided I need a new Wii game. And I have 50 dollars at Amazon thanks to a point website I’m a member of. So free game here I come!
I love days like this.

Everyone,
I feel like I’ve been running at about 90 mph today and haven’t had to stop to rest…even though I took a nap today! So here is what we did:
The blueberries are ending their season so we went back and picked some more in lots of humidity. Lala and her family joined us again. This time we picked about 7 pounds of berries and have probably eaten about 2 pounds already. My kids just adore blueberries. We got home just in time for naps.
While they were taking their naps, I went to the eye doctor. I haven’t been in over 2 years because I could just never find the time. My prescription has changed in my eyes so I needed new glasses and contacts. The doctor gave me some contacts to take home and I picked out some very funky square plastic glasses. Something very very different for me. The contacts weren’t all that comfortable but the doctor told me to wear them for a few days and then call about ordering them when they get comfortable. I wore them home (after a lunch out by myself..shhh…) and they still hurt. I finally had to take them out because I had a huge head ache. I’ll try again tomorrow.
I cleaned my house because Jeff asked a friend from work over to dinner tonight. Flower and I cleaned, made lemon pasta, blueberry muffins, and scones. The boys happily played in their high chairs for some of that, slept for some, and cried at our legs for awhile too. Butterfly had a very long nap in my bed this afternoon. She also had a very bad accident and so I’m washing my sheets.
We had a good time with Juice’s friend and I’m glad he has one at work. His last friend moved away (hi Kelly!) so he’s been a bit lonely. It was fun to meet someone from his work and finally put a name with a face.
Now Juice and Flower are playing the Wii and I’m waiting for my sheets to dry. I hope I can stay awake that long.

Everyone,
Too busy playing Sim Animals. Wow it’s addicting!
I finished an entire book in about 2 days today.
Both boys have been getting into mischief, as always. Pirate’s cast is really starting to smell.
I talked to my Dad for over an hour today about plans to visit in the summer. Looks like we are “go” for launch sometime in June.
We had yet another day at home.
And will probably have another tomorrow.
Butterfly spent all day in her pjs and loved it.
She also spent all day playing tea party.
Juice has now taken over the Sim Animals and is busy building a kingdom. Guess I’ll go watch.

Everyone,
Last night we had a friend over for dinner. His family has been out of town for 3 weeks, and I figured he could use some home cooking. We made flank steak, baked potatoes, rolls, and green beans. It was good. I cut up some meat and apples for the boys and let them feed themselves. Boy were they happy! They ate a lot, or maybe just a lot fell out of their hands onto their chairs. Either way, they ate and I got to sit and eat with everyone too.
As I put the boys to bed, our friend played our Wii with Butterfly. They had a fun time playing all the carnival games we had. She totally beat him at a few of them. When she went to bed, we broke out Rock Band and proceeded to rock the night away.
We went ahead and bought Rock Band 2 so we could use our other guitar. I have found my calling as a bass guitarist since I could play on hard and get 98% of the song right. Sweet! I was frequently in awe of our friend’s talent on main guitar and Juice rocked the drums. We stayed up till 10:30pm playing.
Of course, once our friend left, I had to try out a few new features on Rock Band 2. I had to do the online play. I joined a group for 7 songs and stank. Wow, there are some people out there that are really really good. Juice played for some of the songs, and we commented on how we really were not doing too great on easy. We then didn’t get upstairs to get to bed until almost midnight. Bad bad wii! Er, us.
It’s snowing outside this morning. I had to take Juice to the metro because he missed his bus. It’s Chinese New Year and I’m ordering in Chinese food for dinner. Yum yum!

Everyone,
We were brave. Tonight was our ward’s annual adult only white elephant exchange party. We love going. Every year we have such a great time and laugh so hard. This year there was some question as to if we were going to go. We both wanted to, but were we ready to leave the boys with a babysitter that wasn’t family? (The last time we had a babysitter was in Utah, almost 6 months ago.)
We, okay I, decided that I was ready and called our normal babysitter to see if she could come. No! The 14-15 year old girls in our church were all having a sleep over together. So that meant that all of my regular babysitters were busy.
An older girl’s mom said her daughter wasn’t doing anything and so I asked her to babysit. Worked out great. She’s really close to me and 16 too. And she has twin younger brothers. So I feel very comfortable leaving them with her.
And I’m glad we did! As we were leaving, Juice said that it was a good thing that Butterfly was staying home because she was driving him crazy today. Me too! We had a good laugh at that one. Poor Butterfly, it’s been rough on her lately. RSV in the house, no one to play with, and a lot of pent up energy. She needed a fresh face to play with and we needed a night without her bedtime games.
The party was a blast. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time. We all get together in a circle, a huge pile of presents in the middle, and everyone has a number. When it’s your turn, you get to either pick a present or steal a present from someone else. Once the present has touched three people, it’s locked and that person it it’s final owner.
I’ve gotten some interesting things in the past. Like last year when I was pregnant with the boys, I got a fat burning work out dvd. Juice got a manicure set the year before. We always bring some pretty fun stuff too. Like a bunch of really stinky soaps (sorry Lolli who got them). This year we brought some stickers I won’t be using and cup Juice got at a conference he went to this year. Juice got to pick his present first and picked out a wooden bird house painted as a barn with toy animals stuck to it. It was not functional, but kind of cute.
The missionaries came to the party, and Juice and I were wondering to ourselves what in a missionary apartment could you bring to a white elephant gift party. I found out. It was….
a box of cheez-its with only crumbs inside.
What a lame gift! Worst gift ever, and bordering on not funny. It was the missionaries so I forgave them that. Plus, as the night went on and we saw some of the funny things people brought (VHS tapes, a signed picture of themselves [really really funny!] and random bits of makeup) I was actually kind of happy with my cheez-its box because I would not be bringing home useless junk.
Someone stole it to get a laugh. So I got to pick another one. I picked out a hanging holiday sign with a saying on it about friends and holidays. Something sappy. The missionaries took back their cheez-its box and the person who stole them got to steal something else.
We had the best time laughing and being with our ward and our friends. It ended way too early though so we decided to go to Toys-R-Us and see if we could buy Rock Band 2. They closed at 9pm so we drove around for a few minutes and went home.
All was quiet on the home front. The boys didn’t even peep and Butterfly went down without a fuss and was asleep when we got there. Awesome! I checked the messages and Lolli had called to see if we wanted to get together and play the Wii tonight. Yes!
So as I took the babysitter home, Lolli and CandyMan came over and we played carnival games and Mario Kart. Fun fun fun!
It was a great night and a good recharge for me. Now if only I could guarantee myself several hours of sleep, that would just be the cherry on top.

Everyone,
So. Yeah. I never posted what we did on New Year’s Eve! I know it’s over a week late but better late than never right?
Although if you read my friend Lolli’s blog, you already know what we did. There was way too much food. There was a lot of laughing. And a lot of Wii playing. Because seriously, we are addicted to the Wii in our house. We had originally thought about playing some card games along with rock band but who are we kidding? We played the Wii all night long. And it’s because of this night that we went out and bought another guitar so when Lolli and CandyMan come back over, we can all play at the same time.
I bought a guitar at a wonderful price! (Less than $20 which is huge, they normally sell for over $60 thanks to a tip from “Deal”icious Mom.) Guess I should have researched the guitar a little more than just the price because we got it yesterday and it doesn’t work with rock band! Who are these crazy video game people who don’t make their things compatible with other games?! Arg! Doing a little more research on it yesterday revealed that it’s compatible with rock band 2 but not rock band 1. Whateves. Juice was all for sending the thing back and getting a different one but I convinced him we should just buy rock band 2 since we will be spending $40 or so more in a guitar. So soon we will have another game and be able to use our guitar. (This almost made me want to boycott any more Wii stuff but seriously, the thing is so fun!)
Besides rock band, we did play other games. Well, the guys played the games and Lolli and I talked and cheered them on. CandyMan has the fastest finger in the East because he whomped Juice in the target shooting game. Enough so that Juice has been practicing it every night for a few minutes just so that he can beat CandyMan. I did the best on the fishing, and Lolli is the quietest drummer I have ever seen.
And for my SIL- A picture of us (well me and The Candies) playing.

If you are thinking of purchasing Rock Band, get the Rock Band 2 stuff. It seems to be a little more compatible with other things! And I do suggest it. We have a ball every time we play! And this night was no exception. What a great way to ring in 2009! This year is going to Rock.

Everyone,
So the boys are no better nor are they worse. So I suppose we are kind of in a holding time. Pirate coughs and coughs and coughs. I am glad we are not near my SIL Splats because I would hate to infect her babies with this. It really is pretty horrible.
Here’s a contrasting baby moment for you. Professor is so sunny. He is still happy and active and getting into trouble even through his fever and coughing and snotty nose. Pirate, on the other hand, is miserable. Truly, to look at his face you can see misery. His eyes are red, his nose is red, his ears are red. He stares at me slack jawed most of the day. He has a lot of opportunity to stare at me lately because he has been in my arms basically all day. He screams once when put down, and then has a huge coughing fit until I pick him back up. Poor kid. And poor me. My arms and shoulders are very sore. He weighs about 17 lbs so to carry him around all the time is hard. (He will not sit still in the sling unless I am standing.)
Luckily, Juice came home early today because there was just nothing for him to do at work. He took the vacation and we have been loving having him home. I was able to go run some errands by myself! It was great. We were able to go for a walk while everyone was home and it was still light. The weather was beautiful today and I figured the boys could use the fresh air. They are sleeping soundly at the moment so hopefully that will last all night long.
Because last night it didn’t. Oh they slept fine until about 2am. Pirate woke up coughing and coughing so I went in to suck out his nose in hopes that he would be able to nurse and go back to sleep. Suction provided some relief but he wanted nothing to do with me. So. I sat with him in the rocking chair in their room until about 5:45am. He slept a little more after that but not much. Poor kid.
I’ve done my errands today. I’m going to go quickly sweep and mop the kitchen floor. And then I’m going to play rock band! Yay!

Everyone,
I almost forgot to blog today day. (Or tonight as Butterfly would say. Every time the sun goes down it has to be to NIGHT because it is night. Of course.)
Anyway, Juice and I have been rocking out these past two nights. Last night till almost midnight and tonight a little earlier. We are tired. But we are having so much fun! I seriously can’t wait to have my friends over to play rock band. It is it either addictive and fun or boring and no big deal. I remember reading on several different blogs who had Wii parties that they lurved guitar hero. And now I see why. This is so so much fun.
Today I went to the big red store for some alone time and got us a few essentials like diapers. Man we go through a lot of diapers. And cereal. I am asking Juice to make waffles tomorrow morning because we (him) eat a lot of cereal a day and maybe if we have some waffles he won’t eat the cereal gone in two days. Maybe.
I spent a lot time talking to my Dad about my up coming trip to Utah. Yes, we are coming back to Utah in the summer. No details yet, but Dad and I are working them out.
I also talked to my bro and hooked up our Wiis. Now we have their little Mii family wandering around our Wii. So fun!
My arms are tired. I’m getting a blister on my finger from the drum sticks and how I hold them.
Pirate has a pretty bad cold. He is very miserable today. I spent a lot of time holding him and listening to him moan. After his 4 hour nap this afternoon, he perked up some. Enough to eat something (and pull a lot of faces) and go right back into bed. I think Professor has it too since he was pretty low key today. For him, that means he got into Butterfly’s toys at least 5 times instead of 15, chase the dog only once, and pulled himself up onto his feet two times. That’s a new one for him! He is going to be my sweet active into everything climber.
Butterfly has been extra whiny and tired lately too. I wonder if she is getting another cold on top of the one she currently has. I guess this serves us right for actually being really healthy until now this winter. Oh well.
K, back to rock band. No, bed…need to go to bed!
