Thankfulness, Part 3

Everyone,

Today’s list:

  1. Cheap movie tickets.  Now we could actually go to the movies and see something!  I think I have 3…no…4 movies I want to see in the theater.  These tickets will help me out!
  2. Trying to organize myself for Black Friday.  This will be my first time out!
  3. Dogs and the GOOD news they bring.
  4. Antibiotics for Butterfly.  Her cough is just so wet and yucky.  Hopefully she’ll sound better soon (because she feels just fine.)
  5. Cooler Temperatures.  Makes moving boxes a whole lot easier!

Thankfulness

Everyone,

Because I can, here is a list of things that I am thankful for.

  1. Totally awesome primary lessons (that I taught!) and seeing kids ‘get’ what I’m trying to say.  Even if I did have to be a meany and separate all the older boys because they were being disruptive!
  2. My calender.  I don’t think I could do all the things I do without it.  And in a few weeks, I get to go pick out a new one!
  3. New lights in my kitchen.  Hey, did you know that my kitchen is not a dark cave?  Me either!  New found knowledge for everyone!
  4. Kids who go to sleep willingly after a VERY long day for them and no naps.
  5. Walk in hours at the doctor, starting at 8am tomorrow morning.  Guess who is going to visit?  Butterfly!  She has had a cough for weeks now, and it’s starting to sound very wet.  Time to get it looked at.

What a week of being thankful!

10 Things I’m Thankful for TODAY

Everyone,

I’ve spent the past few days wishing for things that I don’t have.  Big things.  Like a backyard.  Or another room for my house.  Or new floors for the one I have.  Each dream I’ve had has been big and bold and daring.

Then I noticed I was starting to get unhappy.  Unhappy with the fact that I can’t just send my kids out to play.  Unhappy that my floors in my house are crap and covered in toys because there is just no where else to put anything.

So I thought that today, I needed to stop and find at least 10 things I was thankful for.

  1. My family.  Including my husband (a dream come true), my children (each one agonizingly prayed for over the course of many years), my parents, my siblings, and all of our extended family.  We are really blessed to have everyone loving us so much.
  2. My husband’s job.  Things are changing at his work but he’s been told he has job security.  So far, it’s been very secure.  And for that, I am truly grateful.
  3. The knowledge of reading.  I figure I spend at least 50% of my day reading.  I am SO thankful I can.
  4. Apples.  Apples are just so good and they are in season right now.  I had 5 today!
  5. Indoor plumbing.  Enough said.
  6. Pillows.  Who invented pillows?  Does anyone know?  They make life SO much more comfortable.
  7. Packages in the mail.  I got an AMAZING one from my friend who blogs at Basil Momma.  She has some awesome recipes, and some really good taste in jewelery.  I’m loving my new necklace!
  8. The holidays.  There is nothing I like better than the holidays.  I love how they smell, I love the food that you get to cook with them, I love how people treat each other during them, and I love all the traditions that we do with them.  The best part?  They are coming up!
  9. Fall weather.  It’s gotten pretty cool here for a few days and I LOVE having to wear pants and jackets.  I love that the leaves are just starting to turn, and that soon we will have crisp mornings and bright colors everywhere.  And then, after that, it snows!  I love snow.
  10. My blog.  How great is it that I get to write down all this information?  Just today I spent half an hour reading through my archives when the boys were tiny.  I had forgotten so much!  I am so grateful that I have these thought preserved not only for myself, but for my kids.  Also, I’m loving all the comments you guys make.  You are the cherry on top!  Thank you!

What are you thankful for?  Leave me a comment and let me know!

Butterfly and her thoughts on Thanksgiving

Everyone,

My daughter prays. It’s so cute. She will stand at the side of our bed, fold her arms, bury her head in her arms, say “Heavenly Father, thank you. Amen!” (comes out more “Hev Faaaa, tank ooo, men!”) It’s so so so cute. And such a sweet little prayer. She asks for nothing. This has really struck a chord with me this past week as we come up on Thanksgiving. What am I thankful for?
Juice, I love this guy. :)
Butterfly, what else would I do with my day other than work at a job I don’t like? She is my life. She made me the mother I always wanted to be.
Soot, this dog is so funny and cute! She is so obedient, and knows tons of tricks. I like to show her off.
Our house, as much as I dream about our permanent home, this one has been fantastic for us. We kind of fell into it at the perfect time.
Juice’s job, they took him in when they really didn’t know what to do with him because they paid for his undergrad degree. Since then, they’ve taught him about monitors, paid for his graduate degree, gives great benefits, and pays us enough to live on. Without his job, we wouldn’t even be here.
My Internet connection, I talk to everyone on it. I’d give up cable before I’d give up my Internet connection.
My parents, they listen to me gush about Butterfly all I want, and all the good things parents do. :)
Family, I miss everyone. But I’m glad that I know they are always there for me, no matter what.

It’s the little things that make life good. Now when I watch Butterfly scrunch up her little eyes and say tank ooo with gusto, I am reminded to say thank you myself.
