Pictures from my Ipod

Everyone,

So I am new to this linky but I’ve seen it before several times.  So I thought, since I actually have a phone (er, ipod) I would join in!

I took the boys with my to Butterfly’s Valentine’s Day Party yesterday. Let’s just say that Pirate’s face (seen here next to Butterfly) mirrors my mood. Have you ever tried to keep 2 two year olds together, not fighting, and not disrupting the class? No? I’m here to say it is NOT FUN.

Valentine Spoiler

But Butterfly’s class did sing this super cute song. And I noticed that she is getting better at singing!

Butterfly lost a tooth and I was taking pictures of it. Pirate had to get in on the action. (Of course!) He is looking so big! And shaggy.

Pirate

Hey! Here’s that missing tooth!

A week ago (or so) I took Butterfly to Home Depot to build something. Normally Juice takes her every first Saturday of the month to have a daddy daughter date. But I took her this time because Juice was ill. (Hahaha I left him home with two rambunctious boys. When I came back, he praised me profusely for what I do and then crawled into bed. I think it’s good for him to have a reminder of why I’m so cool sometimes.)  Butterfly and I built a heart shaped shelf.  We rule.

I got new awesome winter boots. Not only are they cute to look at, they leave a very unique tread in the snow. Love it!

Forgotten

Everyone,

Earlier today I had an idea for a blog post.  And not one of these “this is what I did today” posts that I always do.  BUT, between caring for 4 kids 2 and under today (2 were mine, 2 were a friend’s), having a presidency meeting, school pick up and convoy with a few teachers (Butterfly is STILL crying at school), dinner, beds, and no naps for anyone, the idea has been beaten out of my head.

Hey look!  What I did today!  Gah…

Quick, insert list of random thoughts before I type anything more about my day!

1.  I think I might be addicted to Groupon.  Seriously, I have gotten some really cool things from there for pennies on the dollar.  Mostly movie tickets.  Which we haven’t used.  BUT!  It’s a deal!  Also: Shnoops.  (Yay for 18 pairs of new socks for the boys for $9!)

2.  I need to stop looking at stuff on Craig’s List.  Not that I buy anything…I just window shop.  A lot.

3.  Butterfly has the most beautiful dress for the Renacance Fair and Halloween.  Seriously, it’s stunning.  I can’t wait to show it to you!  The boys are going to look quite handsome too.  This weekend should be fun!

Juice’s Contributions to the Blog

Everyone,

With writing every day, I’ve been asking Juice what I should write about. Here are his suggestions:

Rain. This was yesterday’s suggestion. It had been raining off and on for 3 days here. It rains a lot here. The grass is still very green and the leaves are soaked. No crunching leaves for us lately! It also means that the leaves will be wet for days. Butterfly slipped and fell in the mud because of all the rain. The rain also brings free scoops of ice cream at our favorite place. We didn’t get any this time around but I’m not worried. I’m sure it will rain again. Soon.

Shaun the Sheep. Has anyone seen this? It’s hysterical. I won it off of a blog and we’ve been enjoying it at least once a week. I really like the little lamb with the pacifier. It reminds me of Professor. Too cute. I also get the theme song stuck in my head.

He refrains from saying anything else at the moment. I think I scared him off!

Random Thoughts

Everyone,

The mouse is dead! The mouse is dead! Icky too. Juice put it in the dirty diaper pail outside. It creeps me out every time I have to put a dirty diaper in there but there was no where else to put it until garbage day. I’m just glad it’s not summer.

It is SO not summer. In fact, it snowed today! It’s crazy cold for this time of year. Thanks Mom and Dad, for bringing winter back with you. :) The flowering trees do look enchanting with all the snow drifting down. Sadly, no pictures as I was driving furiously home from the park. Too cold to play today!

I am thinking of getting a few blueberry bushes to live in pots for us. Anyone have experience growing blueberries? Anyone?

I spent the afternoon on the phone with different people setting up stuff for the boys’ birthday. I am so excited to celebrate one whole year! And I’m so happy we survived it.

I had to change Butterfly’s clothes 4 times today. That girl is pushing the potty limits. She obviously doesn’t know where the potty limits are since she went over them 4 times today. She is also pushing MY limits because this is driving me crazy!

Even though the conformation email says that my White House Easter Egg Roll Tickets will be emailed to me April 6-8th, they have not come yet. I am slightly worried. I guess they still have about 28 hours left to email me. I will probably call the company tomorrow and check because that would suck if I didn’t actually get any tickets. Especially since I have a conformation email and number.

Only 52 hours until my parents get here! (Give or take a few hours…I kind of got side tracked around hour #40.) I’m excited to see them again and have a week of fun filled exploration. Weather permitting, the airplane park, the cherry blossoms, the zoo, and the Lincoln Paper display are all on the list. Weather not permitting includes a few museums and probably the mall.

I have been so wrapped up in Operation Destroy Mouse and All Available Entrances To Warm House for Rodents that I haven’t done any cleaning. Mostly I am cleaning to find my metro pass. It’s around here somewhere…I’m just not sure where.

More on ODM&AAETWHR later, including cement. This should be fun. (Know what else would be fun? Playing godfather with the mice…putting their little feet in tiny cement blocks and pushing them off the pier of the local lake. Too cruel?)

Can’t Talk

Everyone,

Too busy playing Sim Animals. Wow it’s addicting!

I finished an entire book in about 2 days today.

Both boys have been getting into mischief, as always. Pirate’s cast is really starting to smell.

I talked to my Dad for over an hour today about plans to visit in the summer. Looks like we are “go” for launch sometime in June.

We had yet another day at home.

And will probably have another tomorrow.

Butterfly spent all day in her pjs and loved it.

She also spent all day playing tea party.

Juice has now taken over the Sim Animals and is busy building a kingdom. Guess I’ll go watch.

Blog Tag

Everyone,

My good friend Lolli tagged me a few days ago.  Since I don’t really have anything to say today (unless you want to hear my rantings about Butterfly and her attitude lately), here are 7 random things about me.

1-  Did you know that I have 3 other blogs I write on?  I do.  One is a group blog which is private, one is a private one just for me that I haven’t written in in months, and one I just started today to keep track of the bloggy giveaways I enter.  You can check that one out here.

2-  I have not gotten my mail in about 5 days.  I probably should do that but I hate walking to my mail box.  It’s at the end of my circle, about a block away.  I used to get it all the time with Butterfly.  It was a great little outting for us.  But now, I can’t hold both boys and open the box.  Plus we have coats to put on, gloves to put on, shoes to put on.  So the mail just sits there until the box gets full and our mailman grumpily brings it to our house in a big rubber band.  Or he will take it all to the post office and make me go there to get it.

3-  I love love love popcorn and have some at least 3 times a week.  I have a stir crazy popper that I love.  The bowl is cracked and the stirring arm is bent but it still works great.  It gets lots of use!

4-  Since having the boys, I have a really hard time concentrating.  It’s frustrating to me because I was always great at being organized and stuff.  I really do think that being organized is one of the many keys to success.  But now, I’m totally disorganized.  I feel like I’m skating through life and I hate it.  I want to get back to being organized.  The only way to do that is to make a ton of lists, and I don’t have the concetration to make them.  Sigh…

5-  I used to send out montly pictures to my friends and family.  I haven’t done that since the boys were born.  I feel awful because I know my mom and grandma really like them.  I also haven’t even uploaded the pictures on to the photo sharing/buying website since my trip to Utah last summer.  I really need to because when I actually do get back into scrapbooking, I’ll need a place to get my pictures printed!  I always have good intetions of sitting down to do it every day but then the internet sucks me in.

6-  I have my book club meeting tonight and I’m excited to get out and not have to worry about the kids!  We are reading Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters.  I did not finish (okay, start) Mere Christianity but I got through The Screwtape Letters.  These books are very thought provoking.  See #4 above.  I’m vowing to start the next book earlier in hopes that I will actually get through it.

7-  I love reading the credits in a movie.  I love to see people’s names.  I really love watching the Pixar credits because they have production babies at the end and that is so cool!  I think I got started with this when I watched the Simpsons when I was younger.  They used to have a funny phrase at the end of the credits every episode.  I wish more people did that.

Okay, so for the rules:

* Link to the person who tagged you
* Post the rules on your blog
* Write 7 random things about yourself
* Tag 7 people at the end of your post and link to them
* Let each person know they’ve been tagged

I tag:

Valinda
My Dad
My Aunt
Rosemarie
Miss X
Karen from Clio
Aubrey

(Wow, that was harder than I thought to pick 7 people!)

Done!

Everyone,

Ahh…the month of November is over and so that means that my need to post every single day is over. Although, here I am, posting again. I’ve found I really like writing every day. Plus, I had a motive with the prizes they offered. I probably won’t get anything, but the idea of maybe getting something was enough for me to actually write. There are a few websites out there that are promoting posting every day in December as well, but they are not offering prizes and so, I will not be joining. I’m such a prize junky. :)

Today was a day of shopping. I realize now how much I hate living near a mall in December. The traffic is really bad around the house, and around all of our normal places like the grocery store. Nothing really fun was bought today, just a lot of groceries and more toilet paper because we are apparently out. I hate being out of toilet paper.

Although I did purchase Juice a very very cool Christmas present. Can’t say now, but only a few days to wait. He will be very surprised and I hope very happy.

I’m missing the snow the rest of the country seems to be getting. Sometimes it’s sad to live in the south.

Reader Requests

Everyone,

I’ve had a few reader requests lately so I thought I’d answer them. Jill has asked to see some of my scrapbooking. Here you go!

The pictures of the pages aren’t that great. I had a hard time getting no glare on them because I refuse to take the page protectors off. But still, you get the idea.
And Karen over at Keeping it Simple has asked me to post the most awesome chicken salad recipes. You know, the one that almost set my house on fire. It’s that’s awesome. :) Here you go! (courtesy of my mom…Thanks Mom!)
BowTie Chicken Salad
1 box pasta bow ties, cooked as directed
celery, diced
green onions, chopped
water chestnuts, chopped (optional)
1 small can pineapple tidbits, drained
1 small can mandarin oranges, drained
red seedless grapes
1 package Craisins
1 small package slivered almonds
chicken or turkey; cooked and diced
Dressing:
1 cup real mayonnaise
1 bottle Kraft Coleslaw Dressing (has to be Kraft or it tastes funny)

Mix together celery, green onions, water chestnuts, pineapple tidbits, mandarin oranges, grapes, Craisins and almonds. Add chicken or turkey and pasta box ties. In a separate bowl, blend together mayonnaise and dressing. Pour almost all of the dressing over the pasta mixture. Fold in and let salad stand overnight, refrigerated. Pour the rest of the dressing over the salad mixture and stir well before serving.

I always leave out the celery, the almonds, and the water chestnuts and it doesn’t seem to hurt the taste at all. And I cook my chicken in olive oil for an hour and send them through the food processor rather than dicing by hand. Both ways are good though!
Any more requests?

Stuff

Everyone,

Here is a picture of the lions I talked about when we went to the county fair. Can you guess which one is mine and which is Butterfly’s? Really? I think they look so similar! Good thing I keep mine in a drawer or we would be so confused all the time with two lions hanging around.

The other day I was making chicken salad for a bbq we went to at our friends house. They tell us that we are not allowed in the house unless we have this salad in tow. (Juice says not to worry because they have the bbq outside so it’s an empty threat.) Well, it’s an overnight salad to make. So the night before, we start cooking the chicken and boiling the pasta that goes in it. Pasta gets done but the chicken still has a ways to go. So I ask Juice to drain the pasta for me. He does and we go back to watching something. About 10 minutes later, I wonder if the chicken is burning. Then I think, “Nah, it’s probably just the oil I’m cooking it in. I was rather free when pouring it into the baking pan.” But then the smell started to get sour and I asked Juice if he smelled something burning. Why, yes he did! He goes to investigate and says oh no! I run into the kitchen to find my recipe scorched to unreadability. Apparently Juice walking out of the kitchen after dumping the noodles created enough wind to blow the recipe onto the hot burner.

Luckily my mom was home and she was able to email me a new recipe so I could finish the salad. Thanks Mom! You saved me from being banished outside during the bbq. :)
