In Which…

Everyone,

Today is a day in which I over scheduled myself beautifully. For your perusal:

The day started later than I had hoped, 7:30am. I had hoped to rise by 6am with Juice. Juice did not get up at 6am; therefore, neither did I. Butterfly, however, did get up at 7:30am and so we started our day.

Playgroup for Butterfly this morning was great. We played outside. The boys went down Ms. K’s really big slide by themselves. Shocked looks and a few shy smiles followed. Also, lots of giggling girls and eating mummy hot dogs and home made doughnuts. It was great. I miss weekly playgroup with these girls.

A prompt departure at 12:45pm in order to make it to the boys’ 18 month old doctor visits. No matter that they are almost 19 months old. And no matter that this is the 4th time I’ve had to schedule this visit (first few times we were sick, then I was out of town). Arrival was prompt. Waiting room was full. The boys were charming. The rest of the visit as follows:

In which I was able to strip both boys to their diapers in less than 1 minute. The nurse timed me. He (the nurse) got a kick out of it and kept mentioning it.

In which Pirate weighs 24 lbs 1.5 oz, 33.5 inches long and has a nice 19 inch head. This puts him at 50th for weight, 95th for height!, and 75th for head.

In which Professor weighs 21 lbs, 5.5 oz, 32 3/8 inches long and another nice round 19 inch head. 5th percent for weight (yay we’re back on the charts), 50th for height and 75th for head.

In which both boys had two shots, hib and flu. Pirate did not cry in the slightest. Professor screamed during the second shot but was mollified by his binky and sticker.

In which Butterfly also received a shot in the arm for the flu. She threw a hissy fit. A sucker and a sticker did not placate her. I finally had to yell at her and put her in time out in the doctor’s office. Good times.

In which Pirate is probably going to have surgery!! He has a hernia that has not gone away. Off to Children’s Hospital we go!

In which we spent almost 2 hours at the doctor’s office.

In which I was grateful to have thrown Butterfly’s dance clothes in the car on the way out. We got to dance class in time to have a milk shake (the boys drank most of mine) and go to class.

In which I came home to dinner done in the crock pot. I love my crock pot.

In which I am now pooped and need to sleep. Night!

Busy Busy Day

Everyone,

This morning we were able to get to a St. Patrick’s Day party with my play group at our friend’s new house. It was beautiful and made me want to move to some place bigger. She has an amazing play room and bathtub…funny how those two things stick out in my mind.

We were the last to get there and the first to leave. This fact did not escape Butterfly’s notice and she was royally put out. She has so much fun playing with those girls. We’ve known each other since the kids were around 8 weeks old so they have really grown up together.

Tonight I volunteered at the MCPOM sale helping everyone set everything up. I was in the boy clothes section and met a few other twin mommies, both with boys very close in age to mine! There are a TON of good deals at this sale. I am excited to be there early. Things I have my eye on: a travel bed for someone on The Ultimate Road Trip 2009, shoes for the boys, swim diapers, several Little People sets, and of course, clothes. The clothes I will go through during the sale but I had to scope out the toys before hand.

I got a cute red shirt that says, “Got Multiples?” on it. Next year I’m seriously considering being on the committee that organizes the sale. Why? Because you get to shop FRIDAY night. Might be worth all the time to do it!

I had to laugh when I pulled into the parking lot because it looked like a car dealership. And the only thing they were selling was VANS. Rows and rows of VANS. I took our little beater car (named Beau) and it seemed very out of place.

I’m off to bed now so I can be sure and be up by 6am. I’ve got to feed the boys before I go, and I want to leave the house by 6:30am so I can be sure to be there on time to shop at 7am. Wish me luck!

Quick Quick!

Everyone,

Today has been on lazy day followed up by go go go go fast fast fast fast. Since Butterfly’s mild sneezing has turned into a huge watery sniffly mass, I decided we needed some quiet days at home. Much to my dismay. Not that I had anything planned at all. But I’m noticing as it gets colder and the boys get bigger I’m going out less and less. It’s just too hard to do things by myself anymore.

I was brave and went to the post office. And only because I had Netflix movies that needed to go out so I could get new ones. And I had a few other packages to send off. The post office was a nightmare with the crush of disgruntled postal patrons and my hyper bouncing off the wall trying to move her brothers which means she almost tips them over because she can’t move them preschooler and me….trying to address these envelopes and not put her in a box and ship her to grandma’s in the process. But if anyone is getting shipped to grandma’s it would be me. And the boys because they kind of need me to eat. And then we may as all go to grandma’s. Sigh…missing family a lot this year.

One fun thing happened at the post office! Butterfly was chatting away as I was trying to get into the building and I suddenly started paying attention because she kept saying, p p p p. Wait, bathroom trip? Nope, she was pointing out the letters on the building so she names them off: P-O-S-T. She wanted to know what that said. I asked her what she thought it said. She says, “Puh, ooo, sss, tuh. Puh ooo st. Oh! Post! That says post!” One smart cookie!

She took a 3 hour nap, along with the boys, when we got home. Lala, Vinny’s mom, came over to use my washing machine because her apartment complex machines were broken down. Again. We had a good time learning more about each other’s pasts and talking about boys and marriage and old boyfriends, etc. We also watched a Christmas Story because she had never seen it. It was a fun afternoon.

Then I was able to get dinner going, bounced and played with cranky babies and got them fed while Juice was coming home. We then rushed through dinner, shoved the boys into their winter coats (much to their dismay…they wanted nursing and bed time) and rushed out the door to see this.

Isn’t it beautiful? It was so bitterly cold outside though. We met up with some friends from my play group and saw the concert they had tonight. It was a singing ensemble. And man, the instrument guy really got into it. Butterfly and her friend played more with the seats than watched the show but they’re three. We then walked over to see the live nativity and a few of the lights. I tried to get a family picture for them but the little girl wouldn’t cooperate. So they took a family picture for us.

Not that you can see all the family members. It was so cold and the boys were asleep. I wish I could have gotten one when they were awake but no such luck. Juice was great and loaded all the kids into the car and let me run around with my camera to get a few shots.

A good evening but now I’m exhausted. See you tomorrow!
