After 4 Years…

Everyone,

After 4 years, some things never change.

Ahhh…Professor crying and Pirate looking un-bothered by the whole thing.

First there was THIS:

Now there is THIS:

Man I am SO lucky.

PS- For those interested parties, 4 year old stats on the boys.

Pirate: 47 inches tall, 48 lbs.  120th percentile for height and weight.  He is as big as a 5 year old.

Professor: 41 inches tall, 33 3/4 lbs.  50th percentile for height and weight.  He is now average instead of a tiny peanut.  Way to go!

Walking Day #2!

Everyone,

Poor neglected blog. And poor neglected readers. I don’t know what happened or what excuses I can give you. I can say that Flower left here and is home and safe. Yay! We miss her. I’m feeling slightly stressed with all the kids and the fact that I have no alone time at all. The boys have suddenly decided to transition to one nap that starts at 10:30am. They sleep until about 1pm, which is when I’ve normally been putting Butterfly down for some quiet time. So yeah, no breaks. And no Flower to help me out. Sigh… Today I took a 2 hour nap because Juice was home and I could. I’m beat. So is he. We miss Flower.

Anyway, I did get on today to say that today is the day that Pirate has finally decided that he’s going to walk all the time. So many times he fell down today and stood back up to try again. Normally he just crawls when that happened but he was determined today. He is still very unsteady and lurches from one side to the other.

But he is walking!

Walking Day!

Everyone,

Today is the day that Professor has decided that he is going to walk. There was basically no crawling done at all today. He was walking. By the end of the day he was pretty steady too. I can’t believe how fast they are growing up! In no time he is going to be running!

Also today he has decided to start talking. Remember at our last doctor’s appointment they thought maybe he wasn’t hearing everything because he wasn’t saying anything? Well he now says more than Pirate. “Wow” was his first word. Followed closely today by “bye” “woof” and “mom”. Mom comes out more “maaammmm?” but it’s super cute.

Here is a video of him walking…if I can get it to load. I wish our family could see this in person.

Pirate is not walking as well as Professor but he does walk some. He is still in the drunken salior mode and fall often. It’s hard to get long limbs to do what you want them to! Still, he is as happy as can be. We love these boys so much. And their walking talking big sister too. Today she was jumping over Juice’s basketball telling us she was the cow jumping over the moon. Too cute.

Sleep vs Blog

Everyone,

Another short update from me today. Professor spent another night in my arms, roasting he was so hot. I watched 2 movies last night (The Importance of Being Earnest and The Man From Snowy River) and watched the clock tick slowly by.

4am rolled around and I could finally move without him clinging to me and crying. Bed time!

Juice couldn’t stay home this morning due to some work meeting (how inconsiderate of them!) so I dealt with my 2 hours of sleep and even took the kids to the resource center.

Professor actually got down and played. I was amazed.

After his nap (at least he is napping…I should have. Stupid phone.), I basically froze us out. I opened all the windows for some cool fresh air. Even then I could tell when Professor came near me because he was so dang hot. A call to the doctor (they can’t do anything) and a wonderful friend bringing juice (hey look the boys can drink out of straws!) and his fever broke. He was happy, pleasant and smiling all through dinner for Daddy. Grr…

I put Butterfly to bed early too because I was cross and Juice is gone on a service project.

Now, bedtime!

PS- Pirate pulled himself up in his crib for the first time today! And wow, is he a tall baby.

Remember I said I hit the jackpot? Yeah…

Everyone,

So a few days ago I blogged about how I thought I hit the twin jackpot because we had such easy going boys? And remember how I said it would probably change because that is just blogging karma?

Totally true.

Saturday night, the boys were up every. single. hour. Maybe I should say that I was up every single hour. The boys at least got some 2 hour shifts in there. They were off an hour so every hour I was up with one of them. I thought maybe I had gotten their sleep schedule off or something. It was a purely awful night. Juice was very helpful, if a little annoyed at the boys. I was just happy it was a weekend and he was home and willing to be woken up.

We did make it to church the next day. A little late, and all three kids were in tears. But we made it! Ugh. I had Professor on my lap laying down and he bent his head back to look at something Butterfly was doing and I got a flash of white. Wait…what was that?

Teeth. Two new ones. On the top. Ah ha! That would explain his horrible sleeping. But what about Pirate? Why was he such a terrible sleeper? I immediately stuck my finger in his mouth, much to his chagrin. My finger scraped on one tiny little tooth on the bottom. It’s there. It’s hurting. It’s just not clearing the gum line. His little gums are so swollen and he is drooling up a storm.

They both went to bed at 4:45pm yesterday and slept until 10pm, 3am, and 7am. A much better night for me. But today I’m feeling it. I think I may go to bed early. They did again today.

Lesson learned. I am never going to blog about how wonderful the kids are again. Who am I kidding. I probably will tomorrow!
