When You Give a Boy a Camera

Everyone,
When you give a boy a camera
He’s going to take a lot of pictures of the entry way rug.
And when he’s taken pictures of the rug,
he’s going to notice the door.
And when he’s taken pictures of the front door,
he’s going to want to take the camera outside.
Once he’s outside, he’s going to take pictures of the sky.
When he’s done looking up, he’s going to look down
and take pictures of his feet.
Those feet are leading him to the van.
He’s going to get in the van with the camera.
While his mom drives him to watch his sister’s swim lessons,
he’s going to take pictures of his siblings.
He’s going to take pictures of his knees.
When he arrives at swim lessons, he’s going to take pictures out the window.
Which reminds his Mommy that he has the camera and the camera gets taken away.
Which causes him to cry.
He cries during swim lessons, which makes Mommy forget to take pictures of his sister.
So if you want pictures of Sister swimming,
You should give the boy a camera.

Give Me Your Best Shot- Out With a Bang

Everyone,
This is the last of the beach updates I’m going to do. Promise. This is also the last time I will moan about the loss of my camera. Because you must admit, it was an awesome camera. It took pictures like this:
I just can’t get over how perfect this picture is. To tell the truth, I’m a little nervous about sharing it because I’m afraid that someone will steal it. But it’s just too amazing not to be shared. Anyone know how to make a water mark?
That camera also took things like this:
We had so much fun just hanging around in the water like that. And yes, we even had fun being splashed in the face by big waves.
And I’m glad that I have the memories that camera gave me. It truly did go out with a bang. Thanks again little underwater camera! You will be missed.

Give Me Your Best Shot- Snail

Everyone,
Happily joining up with Lolli and showing off a good picture I took. This is from when we were in Utah. (I have not taken any pictures this week…no one wants to see snot covered kids crying!)
My little Pirate is so observant. He’s the one that found this snail and was happy to be showing off his discovery. Butterfly is standing right next to him and at one point held the snail too. That is, until the snail came out of it’s shell and looked at her. With one eye. That was enough to send her back into the house.

Utah Day…um…15?

Everyone,
Today was full. To the brim.
There was a kiddie pool.
There was a leaky hose which doubled as a sprinkler.
There were naps (all around).
There was a trip to the mall and about 50 dresses tried on by me. Nothing bought.
There was a dinner with Grandma and Grandpa.
There was a trampoline.
There were bees.

Utah Day 13

Everyone,
We are coming into our last few days here in Utah and then it’s back to home and humidity. We’ve loved being here but I think it’s time to go back to our own house and our own routine. I, for one, am looking forward to having different shirts to wear instead of the same thing every.single.day.
Today my Dad and I joined I Heart Faces on their photo walk across America. We had a blast taking pictures and meeting a bunch of people in the group and in Salt Lake. I’ll show some pictures when I get a chance to go through them. Here is one of the last ones I took today of my dad.
When we got home, I had to get everything ready for our annual friend bbq. We had just a few people this time, and were missing some key friends. However, it was still a great time. We all sat around the table and chatted while the kids ran screaming (literally) around the yard. Heaven.
The kids didn’t get to bed until after 10pm tonight so tomorrow is going to be awesome, I can tell.

Easter 2010 Clothes

Everyone,
Since Easter was Conference Sunday, we didn’t get to wear our fun new Easter clothes to church. So this Sunday everyone looked shiny in their new outfits. We even got up early so I could take pictures of them before church. Thanks to my Mom for the clothes!
First off: Butterfly. She looks SO grown up in this dress. She picked out the bow herself. And look, I even put her hair in curlers the night before! She looks so cute! Those curls didn’t last through church but she thought they were great.
Next up is Pirate. He is the king of soulful looks in our house. And yes, I did pick out their outfits to match their eyes! Thanks to the 5 or 6 people who asked me that at church. Makes me feel like our choice was a good one.
And last but not least, Professor. He was NOT happy about getting his picture taken after someone took a toy away from him. So I didn’t get as many pictures as I would have liked with him. 
The hats kill me!

From Butterfly’s View

Everyone,
Last year for Christmas Butterfly got a kid camera. It eats through batteries like you would not believe. Sometimes she takes a lot of pictures, and sometimes it sits in the bottom of a drawer for months. The past few days she’s taken a lot of pictures. I finally downloaded over 200 of her pictures today. They span from Christmas till this afternoon. She was THRILLED to see what she took. And she kept telling me how much she likes that picture. Even if it’s just a black picture. Or if her finger is in the way. She thinks it’s a work of art. These are some of the more interesting pictures I think she took.
Look at those cute cute feet! We had a lot of feet pictures but I like this one the best.
There’s a whole series of pictures where she is making different faces to see what she looks like. This is the only one that is clear (ish).
I find it interesting to see how she views her brothers. And also how they view her!
Cooking day! We made bread together and she took pictures of every step. Very Pioneer Woman of her.

Everyone,
Playing along with my good friend Lolli over at Better in Bulk. Go check out her pictures because she’s got some really cute ones of Butterfly and AJ (her boy) at the resource center.
Mine comes from last weekend at the zoo and Tai Shan’s farewell party. Beyond seeing the panda for the last time and writing him a good bye note, they had a show that they put on. There were drums, dancing, singing, etc. The final act were 2 Chinese dragons that went out into the crowd and danced to the drums. They scared Butterfly so bad but I thought they were beautiful.

PS- Snow started around 11am this morning. The boys and I went for a walk and then Butterfly and I played on the playground for awhile. Everyone is taking an awesome nap and I had my morning out.
