An Adventure Week

Everyone,

We’ve been busy busy busy here running from place to place. It’s spring break in our school system and we’ve been enjoying having all of our friends around to do fun things with. Joining Lolli this week with a few good pictures of what we’ve been doing!
Give me your best shot at Better in BulkA fun day in Harper’s Ferry…complete with several disasters, several saves, and several rules broken!

Juice turned 31! Happy Birthday Juice! (Notice Butterfly blowing out his candle for him.)

This one is for you Dad. :) Remind you of something?

We spent today at the National Aquarium (a bigger post coming) and I am totally foot sore. A day pushing the kids around in Harper’s Ferry, WV, a day at the aquarium, and tomorrow we’re going to another park.

Did I mention how much I’m enjoying getting out with friends? LOVE IT.

Nice Day For A Birthday!

Everyone,

What a beautiful day we had today. The sun was shining, the clouds were high and white and the world is a bright spring green from all the rain. I was noticing on Sunday during a break in our showers that the grass and trees and everything seems to have a green tinge to it. I think spring is my favorite season in Maryland. It is so gorgeous and I feel like I have green glasses on all the time. Plus, I do love getting out of the house without so much “equipment” to wear. I am looking forward to the days of sandals without socks and no coats!

Today is Juice’s 30th birthday. I’ve seen him for about an hour total today. Work (obviously) was first and then he came home for dinner and left to go help out a good friend painting her house. I am happy to have him help her out and we’ve already celebrated his birthday several times now.

We did have some left over ice cream cake today and sang to him before he left. Butterfly even blew out his candle for him but cried when he licked the frosting off and not her.

The kids and I spent our day at the park with friends. Boy those kids ran and ran and ran. We wore out both dogs and the babies sat in their strollers and ate. It was so nice to feel the sun on our faces and breath the fresh air. I came home and opened all the windows. Did I mention how much I enjoy spring?

Happy Birthday darling! Can’t wait to see what this decade brings us!

Sunday Pictures, take 7 Birthday Edition

Everyone,

We had a blast and Juice’s party last night! And we stayed up way too late. I’ve done this too many times in a row and I intend to be in bed by 9pm tonight. Enjoy!

Birthday Time!

Everyone,

Tonight is Juice’s big 30th birthday party. Except it isn’t that big. Only because he didn’t want a whole lot of people invited. So we invited a few, and some couldn’t come so it turned out to be just a right amount.

He has been at a church breakfast thing this morning, and then off fixing an electric wheel chair. I’ve been trying to get everything ready and get the kids happy. I think Pirate is teething because he only wants to be held and is drooling up a storm. He is also not sleeping well.

I am discovering the joys of having 2 kids in the same room. Because Pirate is not sleeping well, he is staying awake. And he will pull himself up and chat to Professor. Now, Professor is my sleeper. He NEEDS he sleep and will do pretty good as long as he’s not distracted. But Pirate distracts him. So then they chat, play, cry for awhile and I figure they are not going to bed and go get them. Well, Professor is cross and crabby and Pirate is all fun. Until bedtime gets closer and then they switch places.

I suppose I should be happy that they do that at least.

I better go get ready for the party!

Getting Ready

Everyone,

Tomorrow we are having friends over for Juice’s big 3-0 birthday. One nice thing about having people over is that we actually clean the house. Shocker, I know. I have been pretty good about doing my daily chore list, but sometimes the house needs a good scrub down.

This is one of those times.

So, today this is what I have done:

Cleaned up all the random loose papers that seem to accumulate in my house, specifically on my table.

Put away the last of the Christmas decorations. Yes, I’m a little ashamed to admit I still had Christmas stuff up. I can hear my Mom saying, “Oh, Safire!” and my Nana too…in the exact same tone of voice. BUT, in my defense, Butterfly loves those horses and wanted to see them pretty much once a day. So Juice finally boxed them up for me tonight and Butterfly will probably not notice that they aren’t there.

Scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands and knees. Seriously, there was no avoiding this one. 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 adults really do a number on that floor and it was gross. The bubbles of the cleaner were almost black by the time I was done. Now, it is shiny and the boys can eat off of it tomorrow morning.

Laundry. Yay! Never ending laundry.

Grocery shopping. Gotta have diet root beer for Lavender!

Now, I’m exhausted and ready for my bed. Another day of cleaning tomorrow!

Happy 29th!

Everyone,

Today is Juice’s 29th birthday. Butterfly and I got him a tool box, his very first. He got it a few weeks ago when I was still able to go to the store and I drug him there to pick it out. Poor guy didn’t get to open any presents today, but got a card from my parents with a download for his favorite game. Still, I think he had a good day.

This morning, Juice was working from home for a bit and Butterfly woke up. I went in and quietly reminded her it was Daddy’s birthday, and she went staggering out of her room. When she saw him on the computer, she grabbed his hand and said, “Come!” She lead him downstairs, into the kitchen and reached up to the freezer door. (Yes, she can reach the handle!) Juice opened the freezer, and she pointed at the ice cream cake we have in there for him and she said, “Daddy, it’s your birthday!” And in a 2 year old’s mind, birthday = cake.

They had cake after dinner. I watched. And took pictures. And drank water. I did have one tiny little bite and boy did it taste good! Juice told me after his big piece that it was good and I should have some when I can. Sigh…I miss ice cream.

Happy Birthday Darling! We love you!

Happy Birthday Juice!

Everyone,

So I know I haven’t written in awhile. In my defence, Juice and Butterfly are sick so it takes up ALL of my energy to deal with them. And then the weather changed and I just couldn’t be inside. But now that it’s rainy and cold, I might actually do some more typing. We’ll see.

Juice turned 28 last weekend. He had a great low key birthday where we ordered our favorite restaurant to go and spent the evening playing with his birthday presents. Butterfly and I got him a usb rocket launcher and he tried to hit poor Soot, even though it says in the instruction booklet not to aim it at pets. Once I read that, he tried to aim it at me. He said that it didn’t say anything about wives. Lucky for him, it has a short range and makes a loud popping noise before it goes off. Kind of like the flame spurt in “The Princess Bride”.

He also got a new card game called Killer Bunnies. So hilarious! We played it a few times but we need more people. Anyone want to come over for a night of card game playing? We promise to provide snacks. The purpose of this game is to keep your bunnies alive and to avoid things like the eboli virus and being abducted by aliens.

This weekend I am braving the cold and camping out on the Ellipse of the White House for their Easter Egg Roll celebration. It’s supposed to be in the 30s. I am so excited to have a night out. This will be my first night away from my house without Butterfly. In almost 2 years. I think I’m due for it, don’t you? Granted, I would have rather gone someplace like Florida or something for this but camping out with all my gal pals is just as fun.
