It’s Before 7pm

Everyone,

And ALL the kids are in bed.  Why so early you ask?  We just couldn’t take it anymore.  There was crying.  There was whining.  There was yelling.  There was a broom.  It was not pretty.

It all started earlier today when I was trying to shower.  Normally the boys are very good when I shower and just kind of play in my room and pound on the door.  Not today.  By the time I came downstairs all clean and refreshed, they had scattered the dog food and the dog water across the kitchen.  Professor was stuffing as much into his mouth as he could get and Pirate was splashing in the puddles.

This has been an on going battle for us the past week or so.  I kind of flipped out on them and snatched up Professor and took him to the sink.  I rinsed his mouth out with water and dug at least 5 pieces of kibble out of his cheeks.  He was NOT happy.  Then I stripped off his wet clothes and child gated him out of the kitchen.  I turned on Pirate.  I stripped off his wet clothes and put him crying next to his brother on the other side of the gate.

Then I swept up soggy kibble from the far reaches of the kitchen and dining room area.  I also did some dishes, laundry, and put dinner in the crock pot.  The whole time the boys are screaming on the other side of the gate.  By now Butterfly is yelling at me because she can’t hear her movie.  Mommy needed a time out.  Since I’m almost 30, does that mean I can hang out in my room for half and hour?  Please?!

Lunch time and nap time came early today because I just couldn’t take it.  I did some internet research on Christmas presents and then it was all too soon to go to dance class.  Butterfly burst into tears when I came into my room (where she naps because they are all sharing a room right now) and yelled at me because she hasn’t had time to sleep!  She had 2 hours of time to sleep.  She just chose to play instead.  So now she’s sobbing while getting her dance clothes on.  And the boys are sobbing because they are stuck in their cribs.

On the way out to the car (we did eventually get outside), I met up with a neighbor.  This neirghbor is old and nice but she talks.  A lot.  And very slowly.  And not all in English.  Any other time and I would have taken some time to say hello but not today.  We were late and I was flustered.  I shoved screaming kids into their car seats while she stood next to the car.  I said goodbye (nicely) and got in and pulled away.  We made it to class on time.  Whew.

I took the boys to the library where we got a ton of M books (it’s M week here!) and a book for me to read as well.  By the time dance class was over, the boys had had it.  They wanted out of the their stroller, they wanted to walk.  But when I let them out, they ran in two different directions.  I had now had it.  Back into the stroller they go, screaming.  Butterfly came right out of class and asked for a milkshake.  Uh, no.

Pirate screamed all the way home because he ripped a library book and Butterfly took it away from him.  No one but Juice and I ate dinner tonight because it was “yucky”.  If they don’t eat, they go right to bed.  I can not deal with tired AND hungry kids.  It is an unspoken rule in our house.  Well, not anymore I guess.

Anyway, I think I’m off to bed myself.  What a long and arduous day.

So so busy!

Everyone,

I don’t know what happened but suddenly I have had zero time for the computer. I guess that’s a good thing and it’s been a good break for me. But I’ve been frustrated with it because I want to get on the computer but can’t because of something the kids are doing. Or I’m taking a nap because the kids have worn me out. Something.

This week Professor has done the following: thrown my contact case into the toilet, complete with contacts in it. That went right into the garbage. Thrown several toys into the toilet, once when sister forgot to flush. Ewww. Broken a huge glass milk bottle with water so water went everywhere. Also glass shards went everywhere. He cut his foot (barely) and I pulled a huge shard out of the bottom of my foot this morning. Did you know foot wounds bleed a lot if they are deep? Probably everything bleeds a lot when it’s deep, huh?

Things Pirate has done this week: managed to shut and lock himself in the dog’s crate 3 times. (I think sister may have had a hand in that but I can’t prove anything.) Learned how to give people high fives (so cute!). Hid his brand new shoes the day we got them so well he didn’t wear them for a few days. Figured out how to climb up onto the toy box (which doesn’t hold toys, it holds our DVD cases) and play the rock band drums and keep his siblings away from his cool new toy by hitting them. Good times.

Things Butterfly has done this week: stomped up to her room at least once a day saying, “I don’t like ANYTHING!”, bit her brother on his back while pretending to be a monster, told me she did not want to stay at dance class and then cried when I made her, has not eaten dinner in over a week because “this is yucky, is there any Butterfly friendly food?”.

There have been some good things this week too. Like Pirate loves to help and almost shakes with excitement when you give him something to pick up. And the boys are starting to look for each other when they are doing something and will “call” for the other one. Professor has started giving spontaneous hugs and has won his sister completely over with that. Butterfly has been so helpful getting the boys out to the car and will hold Professor’s hand so he doesn’t run out into the street for me.

Look for a bunch of stuff tomorrow since I have nothing going on in the day and I might actually be able to upload some pictures. :)

Crisis to Crisis

Everyone,

Today has been one of those days. I went from screaming kid to screaming kid. At least they all took turns screaming. Let’s see…Butterfly screamed because she said it wasn’t time to wake up this morning. And it also wasn’t time to wake up at nap time. I don’t know why she is so cross when she gets up but she is. Oh, wait. I think I know. She stays up playing with her toys and then is really tired when she gets up. Or it could just be that today is Monday and Mondays are always really hard.

Pirate cried today every time I moved more than 2 feet away from him. He is big into being right next to me all the time lately. It’s nice, but he’s also learned to bite because he is frustrated. So when I put my computer somewhere where he can’t touch it, he bites me. Then I put him down. And he bites me. This is a not so cool development into frustration.

Professor takes the cake today though. He cried because he got stuck. He got his legs stuck in the crib slats today during his second nap. Poor boy! When I went up to get him (I was on the phone several times and couldn’t make it up there right away), I expected Pirate to be sleeping too. Nope. Professor was very unhappy and when I didn’t pick Pirate up too, he was also screaming. So after I got them calmed down, they were awake. Needless to say they didn’t have their second nap today.

When I went to go wake up Butterfly (who had a nap…a 2 and a half hour long one), Professor pulled the vent cover off the vent in her room. He went from looking at the the vent cover to climbing into the vent in about 2 seconds. I was busy waking Butterfly up and didn’t see him. When he started to scream because he was stuck, I think I freaked out a little bit. His clothes were caught on something and it took me a minute to get him unstuck. He is grabbing onto me with all his might and screaming. Butterfly has rolled off her bed and is trying to lay down on my back and crying because “it’s NOT time to wake up!” And Pirate is really interested in what I’m doing with his brother and is trying to back into the vent too.

Needless to say, I needed a little bit of space this evening.

Saturday is a Special Day

Everyone,

Since Juice had yesterday off, I had a pretty nice day.  We got all of our errands done yesterday and so we basically had the whole day free today.

Butterfly and I went to her very first primary activity.  I had to go early and help with the 8-11 year old girls who were setting up.  The other twin mom in my ward was there so we chatted about twins and the boys and the disaster I had the other day.  Her twins are 14 now and I love talking with another mom who has been there.  Espically with twins.

Butterfly was very good for the most part at the party.  She made some new friends (which she can’t remember the names of them so I have to) and she payed attention to her teacher well.  I got some cute pictures of her class together (which I don’t think her teacher was very happy to do but oh well).  It was a good morning.

Both the boys are getting colds so when we got home, they were pretty cranky.  We all had lunch (in which Professor managed to flip the spoon every time I tried to give him something but ate great from Daddy…sigh) and naps for everyone.  I ran to the store to get something I forgot yesterday and went to explore the used book store near by.  I’ve never been there.  It was confusing.  But I managed to come home with the book I wanted (after asking the employee to find it because I couldn’t) and 4 other books.  I have a major soft spot for books.  I almost bought a book that mentions my grandmother (Dad’s mom) but didn’t.  Maybe I should go back and get it.

Anyway, I came home with books to read and tried to get the boys to play with their toys so I could read!  But no dice.  They wanted to nurse but then they were distracted by my book or something their brother did or whatever.

Juice and I made dinner together.  All 3 kids joined us in the kitchen and cried.  Professor probably the loudest.  He did not have his second nap and was cross and cranky!  We were able to feed them little bits of ham to keep them entertained to at least get the meat loaf in the oven.

Bath night tonight.  Butterfly was so anxious to get in the bath that I just plunked Professor in there too.  They had such a good time together splashing!  Juice brought Pirate in to watch and you could tell he wanted to get in too.  Tomorrow buddy!

Wow, I just realized that he has not had a bath in over a month.  Ew.

Everyone sing, “Tomorrow!  You’re only a day away!”
