Talking at Night

Everyone,

Since Butterfly has been a very small baby, she has been a noisy sleeper.  And as she has learned to talk, her little night noises have turned into talking.  She doesn’t talk much, but when she does, it’s pretty funny.

Well, 3 in the morning is not funny to be woken up by her chatter, but it’s generally funny to hear her night time thoughts.

Tonight, her little outburst reminded me of so much of me.

“I don’t think so!  No!”

It makes me wonder who she is talking to.  Who is she yelling at?  And do I really sound like that when I yell those things?

Moving, Not Us

Everyone,

Today one of our good friends is moving.  Juice spent all day helping them pack their van and I went over in the evening.  Because all the kids and a moving van was not a great combination.

In the end, the kids ran wild all over their house, screaming and having a grand old time.  Their new house has an open layout and they just ran laps and laps.  They also ran up and down that ramp to the moving van which I HATED.  They thought it was great fun though!

On the way home, Butterfly asked me if we were ever going to move.

“Yes.  We will one day move out of our house.”

“I’d like that.”

“Why honey?”

“Because then we would have a truck to play in!  And we would put all of our stuff in boxes!  And we would have pizza for dinner.”

“Is that all?”

“Yep.  Oh, and maybe we would have a backyard.”

“Yeah, that would be nice.”

Our next house has got to have a back yard to play in.  And a room that we can make into a play room.  And a front room that would stay semi clean.  With 4 bed rooms, 2 and a half baths, and a fence for the dog.  One day, that dream will be a reality.

Butterfly thinks we should move soon.  I wish we could.  But then I see our friends with all their stuff in boxes, having a truck, and bad pizza for dinner.  I don’t think I’m as ready as Butterfly is!

Kiddo Sayings

Everyone,

Professor hit Pirate over the head with a bird flashlight today.  They had been fighting over it and Professor didn’t want to give it up once he got it.  Screaming ensued.

Professor got put in time out.  And Pirate was sitting in Daddy’s getting consoled by Daddy and Sister.  Sister was rubbing his back and crooned:

“Don’t cry Pirate.  I love you more than Professor and Mommy ever could.”

—————–

Not only do I have to figure out toddler-ease that these two boys are speaking to me and each other (they always understand each other…I get it on maybe the 3rd try), but now I have to figure out what the myriad of animal sounds they make mean.  Because yes, they each mean something different!

Meow: I’m hungry or I want that.

Ruff:  Yes!  or I’m hungry or I’m playing a puppy.

Ba-aa: I’m happy or This tastes good or I love you.

Moooo: I want more.  (This one I do kind of understand…probably because they are the same beginning sounds?)

Neigh:  Haven’t figured this one out yet.

Rawr: Not sure about this one either.

—————–

Every time Professor roars at me he pauses, says very seriously, “I dragon.”

“Are you a dragon buddy?”

“Yeah, I dragon.  I fire.  I read book.”  And then he runs off (as only little kids can run) and grabs a book.  He then sits down and roars while he turns the pages.  It’s hysterical.

Why does he do this?  We have a picture that Juice has had since high school hanging in our stairwell.  It’s a dragon reading a in a huge stack of books.  Professor always points it out every time we pass it (which is often) and now he’s convinced that’s what dragons do.  Well, besides breathing fire.

Somehow I don’t have the heart to tell him that books and fire don’t mix!

Growing Up

Everyone,

We love our UPS man.  He is amazing.  He is a twin himself.  We know so much about each other’s families.  Apparently we get too many packages.

Today, he delivered a package for us.  He sat and chatted with Butterfly about how big she is getting.  As he chatted with her, her dimple just kept getting deeper and deeper.

He warned her to stop eating so much and stop getting so big.  Because it makes him feel old!  As she gets bigger and taller and he realizes how fast time is going and how old he is getting.

As he was walking down our walk, Butterfly pipes up (in her very piercing voice) “He’s getting old all by himself!”

I swear the UPS guy was about to fall over in the street he was laughing so hard.

Doctor and a Definition

Everyone,

Juice headed out to the doctor this morning.  He just can’t shake the cold.  He coughs so hard he can’t even walk when the coughing fits come.  Poor guy.  He has bronchitis and is now on antibiotics.  We took Flower to the doctor as well but she just has a bad cough.  She got some medicine to help her sleep at night since that is when most of the coughing happens.

Tonight at dinner Butterfly asked me a question:

“What does overjoyed mean?”

“What do you think it means honey?”

“I want you to tell me.”

“Well I want to hear what you think it means.”

She smiled just a little smile that flashed her dimple.

“I think it means ‘happier than happy’.”

“I think you’re right honey.”

Butterfly Sayings

Everyone,

Butterfly climbed up into my lap today and said, “Mama, I have something important to tell you.”

(Happy that she left the calling me Mother behind) “Yes, honey?”

“There are a few things that I like best.”

“Oh?”

“They are words. And when you put those words together they make my favorite things. Want to hear?”

“Sure.”

“These are the words: Mama, can I watch a movie? Next favorite is, Mama, can I play outside? And then the next one is, Mama, can I play out in the snow? And then the very last one is the last thing that I like to do a lot that you don’t let me do enough. Mama, can I play the Wii?”

“Those are all your favorite things huh?”

“Yes but you don’t let me do them enough. Especially this one, Mama can I play out in the snow? That’s the one that you don’t let me do enough. I need to play out in the snow more!”

“Honey, I can’t make it snow for you. We take you out in the snow when it snows here, but it doesn’t snow every day.”

“Why not?”

“It’s just not cold enough here.”

“Yes it is. It’s too cold!” There was a big dramatic pause here while she had her thinking face on. I’ve learned not to say anything while she is ‘thinking’ otherwise I get yelled at. “Mama?” she asks. “Mama, maybe we better do the last thing I said.”

“Play on the Wii?”

“Yeah, it’s much warmer than snow.”

Okay then. Guess we better find some snow games for the Wii for her. :)

Almost Forgot

Everyone,

I almost forgot to blog today day. (Or tonight as Butterfly would say. Every time the sun goes down it has to be to NIGHT because it is night. Of course.)

Anyway, Juice and I have been rocking out these past two nights. Last night till almost midnight and tonight a little earlier. We are tired. But we are having so much fun! I seriously can’t wait to have my friends over to play rock band. It is it either addictive and fun or boring and no big deal. I remember reading on several different blogs who had Wii parties that they lurved guitar hero. And now I see why. This is so so much fun.

Today I went to the big red store for some alone time and got us a few essentials like diapers. Man we go through a lot of diapers. And cereal. I am asking Juice to make waffles tomorrow morning because we (him) eat a lot of cereal a day and maybe if we have some waffles he won’t eat the cereal gone in two days. Maybe.

I spent a lot time talking to my Dad about my up coming trip to Utah. Yes, we are coming back to Utah in the summer. No details yet, but Dad and I are working them out.

I also talked to my bro and hooked up our Wiis. Now we have their little Mii family wandering around our Wii. So fun!

My arms are tired. I’m getting a blister on my finger from the drum sticks and how I hold them.

Pirate has a pretty bad cold. He is very miserable today. I spent a lot of time holding him and listening to him moan. After his 4 hour nap this afternoon, he perked up some. Enough to eat something (and pull a lot of faces) and go right back into bed. I think Professor has it too since he was pretty low key today. For him, that means he got into Butterfly’s toys at least 5 times instead of 15, chase the dog only once, and pulled himself up onto his feet two times. That’s a new one for him! He is going to be my sweet active into everything climber.

Butterfly has been extra whiny and tired lately too. I wonder if she is getting another cold on top of the one she currently has. I guess this serves us right for actually being really healthy until now this winter. Oh well.

K, back to rock band. No, bed…need to go to bed!

Conversation With Butterfly

Everyone,

Here is the conversation I had with Butterfly this morning as she sat next to me and ate her sucker from Santa.

B: Is Christmas over?

Me: No, not yet. He hasn’t come to our house yet or done presents for us.

B: But he came last night to church.

Me: That was so he would know what to bring you. Did you tell him what you wanted for Christmas?

B: No.

Me: That’s okay. I think he’ll bring you something nice.

B: Like a carriage?!

Me: A what?

B: A carriage. You know, like one you push a baby in?

Me: You already have one of those.

B: No, I want a different one.

Me: Oh. Well, you already have a stroller so maybe Santa will bring you something else.

(pause)

B: We don’t have Christmas day. We have Christmas time.

Hope your Christmas time is going well!
