Way Back Wednesday

Everyone,

Joining my new IRL friend Cheryl for her meme this week, Way Back Wednesday.  I’ve been a long time reader of Cheryl’s blog and I was lucky enough to spend some time with her in New York this past weekend.  We even shared a cab and got kicked out of the quiet car on the train together.  Oh the bonding!

Butterfly, age 2.5, Christmas Time!

Butterfly Christmas 2 2007

I can’t believe this little tiny girl will be going to school in a few short weeks.  She has a purple back pack.  She has a purple lunch box.  She even has purple horse sandwich wraps!  (Purple is the new blue.  Also, horses are the only animal alive…well, next to dogs.  Can you blame the girl?)  She has her first day of school outfit all picked out.  The school sent over her first lunch schedule, as well as her bus schedule and general housekeeping rules.  We go next week to meet her teacher and tour her classroom.  Hard to believe that the little spunky girl pictured above is big enough for school.

Falling Falling

Everyone,

Today Flower and I looked at our list and really decided what we are going to for the rest of the time she is with us. The weeks fly by fast in the summer and in 3 short weeks she will be leaving us! Sad!

Flower picked 6 things to do in the next 3 weeks. I’m excited for the things she picked! After we picked out 6 (actually 7, but we added the last thing since it was a tradition) things to do in the area, we decided to pack up and go do one of them. Right now.

So we threw together a lunch, threw the kids in the car, and drove off to this place:

Herron in Great Falls

Great Falls National Park, MD.

It’s so beautiful there! AND! They are doing construction big time there so they are not charging admission while they are doing construction. So locals, Great Falls in Maryland is FREE right now. Go. It’s beautiful.

We also saw a lot of wildlife there. Lots of birds, lots of fish, lots of frogs. The frogs were ADORABLE and tiny. Oh! And a lizard! Sadly, Soot our dog, chased that lizard away and no pictures of that one. The kids had a love/hate relationship with those frogs. They hopped. But they wanted to hold them. And they hopped.

Butterfly and Frog

Professor ended up yelling at me as we were leaving the park because “Wanna hold dagon! Wanna hold DAgon!” When he doesn’t get his way, he just yells what he wants louder. This little tantrum came because he wanted to hold a dragon fly and those things are hard to catch!

We all came home tired and filthy and hungry. What another fun day with Flower!

GMYBS- Mountains

Everyone,

Joining Lolli again this Friday with my best shot of the week.
Give me your best shot at Better in Bulk

It was hard to choose one this week because I’ve taken so many and a lot of them I’ve really liked.  But this one stood out to me.  I have lots of pictures of Butterfly walking away from the camera in scenic places.  Let’s just add this one to the many.

Girl Trail Mountains

This is from the hike we did and I got so sunburned. The mountains still have snow on the tops. If you look at the big mountain in the front, it looks like it has had stitches. It burned 2 years ago while we were visiting and they did that so it wouldn’t erode so badly with the snow run off.

I love Butterfly’s hand running through the grass at the side of the trail.  She seems so content to just be walking where she is.  I’d like to be like that more often.

Pictures, Pictures

Everyone,

I think it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a bunch of pictures of the kids. Here you go!

Give Me Your Best Shot–Butterfly

Everyone,

This is a shot of Butterfly playing with my Nana’s old fans.  She absolutely loved them at the funeral and almost cried when we had to leave them behind.  Luckily all my aunts and uncles were enamored with her and these fans that they sent one home with us.

This girl and her eyes, though!  The long, thick, dark lashes!  The exact match to Juice’s color that changes from a light brown to golden brown to olive green and every color in between.  They are frequently dark with frustration, or alight with delight.  Between these beautiful eyes and her one deep dimple, I think we’re going to have a run for our money when she’s older!
