Saturday Morning Breakfasts: Peachy Cream Oatmeal

Everyone,

Last Saturday we had a big day ahead of us.  And a late night by Juice and I the night before.  Butterfly had been begging for oatmeal for a few days so I thought I’d throw in some peaches we bought at the farmer’s market a few days before.

I had none left over.

None.

I even had people begging for more.

Peachy Cream Oatmeal

4 cups water
2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1 teaspoon salt
4 peaches, pitted, pealed and diced
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup cream or half and half (I used half and half because that’s what I had in the fridge)

In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil.  Stir in oats and salt.  Boil for one minute, keeping an eye on it so it won’t burn.  (Mine was done in about 30 seconds…but my kids like their oatmeal a little soupier than firm.)  Stir in the diced peaches, sugar, and cream.  Let sit for a few minutes (you can cover it, I forgot) and enjoy!

Breakfast was so quiet this morning.  Everyone was focused on eating.  Ahh…so nice!

I felt like this breakfast could be a weekday breakfast too, it was easy and only took about 6 minutes to put all together.  The longest part was preparing the peaches.

Saturday Breakfasts, part 2

Everyone,

Last week for our Saturday breakfast (read an explanation here), Juice and I had coupons for free sandwiches from Chick-Fil-A.  We got the kids cinnamon rolls.  I brought my own food (still on my diet), and we all had a great time.

Afterwards, we went to watch Juice play soccer and then cleaned the house a bit.

I know it’s not anything speical, and I didn’t even cook anything, but we did spend time together.

As a family.

And we enjoyed each others company.

As a family.

And there was nothing better for us to do.

Breakfast with the Amish

Everyone,

We love to have breakfast at the local Amish market every summer.  This time, we went as soon as we could with Flower.  The boys LOVED their pancakes and strawberry jam.  Butterfly had chocolate chip pancakes, and Flower had a meal with pancakes.

I had one lone egg and some veggies I brought from home.  Sometimes dieting sucks.

But these pictures don’t!

Professor Strawberry Pancakes Amish 2011

Professor wanted “ti-angles” and probably used the most jam.

Pirate Strawberry Pancakes Amish 2011

Pirate used the other half of the jam, and only ate the edges. We took most of his home.

Butterfly Chocolate Pancakes with Flower Amish 2011

Butterfly insisted on putting every single topping on her pancakes. Never mind that they were chocolate chip. Syrup, jam, apple butter, grape jelly, peanut butter topping, and butter. Um, yum?

Yay for awesome breakfasts!
